Celebrant Mounira

Funeral Celebrant in Kent and London

Highly personalised, warm, and creative ceremonies that honour and connect

Mounira Kent Wedding and Funeral Celebrant. Modern, inclusive, cross-cultural, fun, beautiful, eco, and hightly bespoke.

I’m Mounira, an Academy of Modern Celebrancy trained funeral celebrant based in Thanet, supporting families across Kent and London. I consider it an absolute privilege to help people and families create personal ceremonies for their loved-ones. Ceremonies that not only honour and reflect the loved one, but ceremonies that help those left behind begin their personal journey of acceptance and healing.

There are so many beautiful ways to honour a life – from traditional funerals, celebrations of life, informal memorials, ashes internments and living funerals. There really are no rules anymore…

I usually work alongside a Funeral Director (but not always) with my clients to inform them of their choices - and support them to co-create the best goodbye for their loved one.

Please contact me via my contact page to set up a call and find out about prices and services.

About

Why choose me?

I am a warm, compassionate and diplomatic person with a stong calling and commitment to supporting bereaved families through their grief, by supporting them to create highly personal funeral ceremonies. I’m also a patient and loving person with great listening skills and a commitment to creating funeral ceremonies that really reflect the life story and personality of the person who has passed away.

As an experienced celebrant (including both namings and weddings) I’m a confident and professional ceremony planner, writer and public speaker.

I also offer event planning services should you wish to hold a funeral ceremony in a location other than the traditional crematorium or burial ground. I bring my previous experience as an events and project manager to this aspaect of my work.

I trained with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy, and as a fully qualified funeral celebrant what I love most is helping loved ones and families create a farewell that truly, deeply reflects their loved one – with meaning, respect, and heart. I’m passionate about showing people options; many don’t realise how flexible and personal a farewell can be. I approach every service with grace, dignity, compassion, and creativity.

As an inclusive indepdent celebrant, I work cross-culturally, and will happily make religious or cultural references within the ceremonies I deliver for you. I come with a blank sheet of paper and no judgement.

I’m also passionate about our impact on the environment and love to inform my families about eco-funerals and how they work. They can be a beautifully green (often at a lower cost) and low impact way to say goodbye.

How do I work?

In most cases, but not all, the Funeral Director you have contatced will give me your contact details once you have met with them. I will then reach out to set up a meeting with you at a convenient time and location for you.

  1. WE MEET: This meeting usually take around two hours. In the meeting we can discuss your loved ones life, the family tree, and begin to put together a draft order of service.

  2. DRAFT ORDER OF SERVICE PRODUCED: I will send you a draft of the order of service for confirmation, and then I’ll send it on to the Funeral Director. It is at this point that the music is booked by the Funeral Director.

  3. PERPARATION OF LIFE STORY / EULOGY: I will then start preparing the life story or eulogy which includes writing, researching content, phone calls and emails with you and your family to create a personal and bespoke funeral ceremony. I will then write and send you a copy of the life story/eulogy for checking and amends.

  4. CHECK IN BEFORE THE CEREMONY: Before the day we will arranage a phone call to check in and run through the ceremony; once you are happy with it I will email the Funeral Director with a full ceremony script.

  5. I DELIVER THE FUNERAL CEREMONY: On the day of the ceremony I will deliver and manage the ceremony part of the funeral. I will get there early to check everything is good to go ‘behind the scenes’ and then meet you to begin. Once the coffin and Funeral Director arrive, I will generally walk in front of the coffin into the venue, then you will then take your seats and we will begin.

The above scenario describes a typical scenario, but there are many other ways of doing things. In other scenarios such as ashes interments or scatterings, memorials, funeral services that take place after a direct cremation at a venue that isn’t a crematorium or burial ground, and natural burials, I will work directly with you and event-manage the ceremony from start to end in a bespoke manner depending on specific requirements.
